In Winter
Through eternal snowdrifts
Of ages passed and coming
My spirit flies, unbothered and numb
Under the centuries of fallout
In an unknown grave
My bones lie, preserved, to be never found
In the midst of roaring winter
Women dressed in bearskins, vividly complete
Lush and ruddy, glowing with the inmost warmth
Dance and feed on juices of a granite tree
Singing hymns to the forgotten
To those whose souls are wasted down here
Blowing on hearthstones with their might
They rake out coals to honor
Men lost; icebreakers of a lonely heart
Beneath the winds and frozen seas
Of what was left and ran behind
Someplace between the planes of strong and weak
My mind departs, reliving in the final memory
Of snowflakes on a burning tongue
As told, this all began in smokes and haste
And ended with a clumsy whimper
The force of thousand volcanoes
Unleashed and cradled all within mere blinks
Morphed into a whisper every scream
And swallowed both Sun and Moon
The air was weighted; heavy
From a burden of thoughts and hands
Then came the slumber which awakened
Monsters scarier than mind itself
The beat was stopped; and people saw
The brow of lull and the eye of tempest
In places, when the time turns still
As only cold persists and reigns
To endless night awake the remaining few
Humming legends of spilling fruitful days
Those with fate of less remorse, or merciful enough
To let them go, — including me —
Are myth themselves, are all forever free
And all my tracks were swept with pristine snow
For I am no longer a servant of this realm
